State of the Chapter CONTINUED...

sound low but actually it is above the all men's average. Which may of helped us with our fall rush.
Fall rush was absolutely unbelievable. We tried some new marketing techniques, every incoming Freshmen male received a letter from us telling them what fraternity life was about and what we can do to assist in there concerns with college. The chapter also had business cards made up to hand out that stated the dates and places of Rush. This resulted in an amazing turnout of men wishing to join our Fraternity. Nearly every night during rush week we had a constant 30 men. We extended and had 20 quality guys sign and are now in the process of becoming our brothers. We boast the second largest pledge class on campus.
We are not just succeeding in recruitment and grades we are also working on our parent relations. Again this year there is going to be our third annual "Thanksgiving Dinner" for family and parents of brothers. We started this in 1999 and have had a stronger showing each and every year that we hold this event. This is an awesome tool for us to have our parents see us and what we are all about. It will again be on the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving.
Along with deciding on having Thanksgiving Dinner at summer meeting the chapter also decided to raise summer dues to fifty dollars. The By-Laws of the
Chapter were revised and now every brother is required to donate at least fifteen hours to philanthropy ever semester.
Summer meeting also allowed us to reevaluate our scholarship program and it was determined that the changes that the Scholarship Chair instituted should continue because of the amazing success. He made every brother write out in the beginning of the semester what they thought they could get for the semester in gpa. Then he also asked for what they thought the Chapter would get. The result were pretty impressive, nearly every brother did better then expected and just about every brother is above the minimum requirement of 2.3 gpa. The Chairman's request for class schedules and syllabi seemed to have worked. He would make sure that the week of a test that a brother would have some study hours served.
Our brotherhood is again looked upon by other fraternities and sororities as being one of the strongest and hope that we bring pride to all of you our alumni.
This fall we hope will be better than the last, and as such we hope to make even more spectacular strides to being the best on campus and that we can be.

Fraternally Yours,
Jeff Conner

Homecoming
On October 19th is Homecoming again for our school. We have many events planned for Alumni the year. The traditional parade watch and morning festivities and some new traditions. Brother Gregg Simms is having a poker tournament for alumni, with an entrance fee of $100, the goes as a donation to the chapter. There will again be a cookout and tailgating prior to the Football game. We will have the traditional dance this year   but it will be much improved over previous years. We have seen in years past places for improvements for the Homecoming and we are again trying to make it more an event for alumni rather than us. But hopefully we all can have a joyous and safe time while we reminisce
